Question Short Throw installation/Brand

I am interested in installing a short throw shifter in my 06 WRX, but I am not very knowledgeable about the aftermarket for the Rex. I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good shifter at a decent price. Thanks. Scub

i recently installed the B&M shifter with kartboy bushings. this is the first time ive installed a shifter, and was pissed, i feel like i wasted alot of money. the difference is small, compaired to the passed cars i had. but, if u have the money its worth it i guess. guessim just mad cus im broke.

also, the instructions make it seem harder then it is, its a 20 min install if u know what ## doing

Check out subydude.com... I just ordered one of their short shifters. It says that it reduces the throw by 65% and it is only $89. I am going to install it later this week and I will let you know how it goes. Until then...

i know it may be pricey , but I run the STi short throw and i love it. One of the good things about STi is that you can rely on fit every time. No worrying about whether or not it will all go in as planned. I have learned in the automotive aftermarket business that you most often get what you pay for. Keep that in mind when you throw down less than $100 for something built to extremely small tolerances, like a shifter or a Guage that you rely on.

From what I hear cobb has one of the best short shifters. There is an online video of a step by step install of a short shifter on a wrx. I don't know where it is though

Does the STi come stock with a short shifter (sorry for the noob question)

Just to let you know if you go with any other brand than SPT short throw your warranty will be voided. I just found this out I was givin a list today (07/24/06) of all the stuff you can get for the 06 and the stuff you cant.

I have the Cobb double adjustable and love it to death. Add to that the stiffer front and rear shifter bushings and you are laughing....
Cobb is a bit more pricey but I love it to death.
