Question shift light in my 03 bugeye

okay, so being new to the subaru game and all, i was wondering if all the wealth of knowledge thats out there could tell me how to hook up a programmable shift light. which wire do i use? on hondas it was cake but now that i have a big boy car im a little lost. please help guys. thanks

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that your check engine light can be programmed to turn on when you reach a certain rpm - so that could act as a built-in shift light if you don't want to mount one separately. I'm not sure how it's done though, but that might be an option for you to look in to.

thanks for the help, i'll check into the check engine light but ideally i was looking to do the standalone shift light and i've been searching and searching and haven't turned up too much on which wire would go to the shift light, as in which wire relays the rpms. maybe i should just buy a chiltons manual????

Here is a ECU pinout, I never used a shift light but I image you would connect it to the crank position sensor output. Pin b2 the wire should be white.

My shift light is my ears!!

i wish i had the option to just listen to the motor, years of riding and drag racing harleys have hindered the ability to hear alot of notes though. thanks for the help guys i appreciate it
