Hey dudes and dudettes. Just had a couple of questions in regards to how our cars run when cold or with the AC on. Are our cars known to run like ass, ie hesitating, jumpy throttle response and sluggish when cold/working its way up to regular running temp after first started? BC my car is def in that category. I always wait for oil press. to go all the way up before actually driving her, should I wait until the temp registers a little instead?
And also, I know that using the AC effects the perfomance of a car, but my car seems like it gets a NOTICABLE decrease when driving and switching the AC on. She also seems a little jumpy when the AC is on.
Mods- cattles TBE, SPT SRI, Cobb OTC stg2 map. Thanks dudes and dudettes. Z

What do you mean by "jumpy"? I know my 04 acts like the brakes are stuck and thier's no oil in the engine when it's cold....and it gets COLD here. I tried letting it run, but even when I warm it up it does the same thing until I get going down the road, so I just take it easy until it decides to play nice.
The AC just takes way to much out of the car, and mods aside they are still just 4 bangers, so I think that part is to be expected?

I NEVER run my AC.... regardless of temps. Wish I could take it out. I have noticed mine doesn't like the AC either... .What car does ?
The wife is ALWAYS dumbass.
Then when she's in it.....cryin all the time. hahahahahaha
But yours beingy jumpy and all that.... I don't think that's normal.
Ya, I wish I could run without the AC, but here in NC it's just too damn humid and I'm not about to sit there and sweat while stuck in traffic when I could be nice and comfortable. I mean jumpy as in I give it some gas and it kinda hesitates for a split second then kinda jumps forward as if it's catching up to the original throttle input.

I would agree that one can feel it in the right foot when the A/C compressor kicks in. The worst situation is driving in bumper to bumper traffic when this is happening. However, it has been my experience that this is generally how most Japanese cars (with medium to small sized engines) have felt to me. Unlike American cars that I like to call rolling air conditioners, because it seems that they are engineered a bit differently (and operate smoother) when it comes to taking power off the engine to run. I wish I could articulate it better...

Clean your MAF and the IAT probe on it.Any 4 cylinder is going to have a noticeble decrease in power when using the A/C due to the parasitic drag created by the compressor and extra electrical system drain.

Thnx, I'll do that and see if it makes a difference.
