recently aquired 02 wrx
hey guys/gals,
I recently picked up an 02 bugeye thats pretty solid shape, 99xxx miles and only upgrades are a turbo back exhaust and Greddy bov. I understand she needs a tune (runs rich, sputters at low rpm's, doesnt accelerate fully correctly) but what im wondering is with the stock EM can I just roll into a dyno shop and can they tune it? or do I need to upgrade to something? I'm pretty strapped on cash considering I just had to move. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

pretty much a noob with these so be easy on me! :D

Well first welcome to the site and we are glad to have you here. Secondly, ditch the Greddy BOV and replace it with a stock BPV. That will fix most of your issues. Thirdly, you could go to a shop, but i'd suggest scheduling an appointment first :)

If your Greddy BOV has a recirculation fitting you can try to reroute the discharge so it recirculates instead of venting to atmosphere.

It would be a "free" solution that might fix some of the running rich between shifting issues.

Obviously a good tune is the best bet.

It's easier to diagnose what is wrong with a car when it has mostly stock parts rather than a bunch of aftermarket crap you don't need.

Very true, well i'll see what happens after getting the stock one put on. With just the exhaust then it should run a lot smoother and less rich? I can tell the turbo spools way to early in rpms than what it should. will that also help that all in one?

It should be spooling pretty quickly, and hit full boost by 3000-3500rpm range
