So i know so many people have already said don't vent. So i am sorry to beat a dead horse but i wanted to share my experience with venting for two weeks. I have a custom dyno tuned 02 wrx with about 210 whp. I got a greedy type RS with the recirculating kit. I removed the recirc line and vented for two weeks. I have to say the sound does intimidate a lot of drivers but it also asks for trouble. On the technical side though it made my car really hard to drive. I had massive after fires and every time i went to shift there was no power there. The lack of the air pressure right after a shift made for real weak power and real weak shifts. You will feel it if you vent. It sucks!
So the sound was fun but its not worth losing the power. Some people say it doesn't hurt to vent but in my experience it did a lot.

I ran a atmospheric bov for a while, and my car ran absolutely 100% normal. No afterfires, no bucking, my idle was fine, just like stock except for the noise.

Sorry it wasn't about roof vents....
Anyways, Ya i didn't like what it did to my car but i had been tuned also. If you are stock maybe these problems wont be that bad but there is no way i can see that this wouldn't make your car run worse. The power was just not there when i shifted. I could tell immediately when i changed back. My shifting got smoother because the power i was used to was back. I don't know how much of a difference it will make when you run a quarter mile but it does make a difference at every shift.
Oh and yes it was Full 100% atmospheric. So maybe you can still believe in a 50/50 that wont hurt your car.

What kind of mods are you running mxboy15u? If you dont have an aftermarket exhaust i wouldn't expect you to hear after fires. There is no way that it won't cause a momentary power lose unless you are tuned for it. You just may not feel it.

I have exhaust, and so does my friend. I have an 03 and he has an 04, so the differences in the computers are not the cause. I have seen lots of WRXs run BOVs and never seen one afterfiring really bad. The only place I have ever heard of this is on the internet, and then very few people.
i have an 05, i ran a TXS RFL for 3 months and never had a problem with it.. I ran into a problem once with it dropping really low in RPM after revving, but i was able to fix that problem by adding another washer... then it was perfect... i didnt find any power loss... it really depends on how well u tune the BOV... cant be too stiff, cant be too loose
guys this is rediculus. How much friggin air do you think that BOV is "venting" compared to the ammount your intake sucks in. You are not
a) loosing air pressure in between shifts
b) leaning out the mix of air to fuel
why? Because the cfm a BOV kicks out is virtually nil. The cfm your intake takes in has got to be more than 100x greater. This argument is completely non-technical. You "feel' a difference because you can more accurately hear what has always been going on in your engine anyway.
is it possible that your custom tune might be at fault here? UI mean it was tuned for a recirc and you changed it and it ran like crap. Did you trying resettign the ECU and see if it might be that? I have a SSQV for over a year now with AP stage 2 fully catless and have no issues what so ever.
