Hey guys, new owner of an 07 WRX. I was hoping I may get some insight as to a small problem I am having. First some background, 07 wrx with 26k miles on it. Just put a new set of tires on it and noticed that the right rear wheel camber was very ++. Took it to get aligned and was told camber was not adjustable and that the strut must be bent?? I am the second owner and knew the original owner well. The vehical has never been damaged and garage kept all the time. Since I know the vehical has never been hit would it be possible to have a bent strut?? The vehical is still under warranty but I am sure this will be deemed not covered. Any thoughts?
If the strut is, indeed, bent, now would be a great time to upgrade your struts and springs and eliminate some of that unsightly stock WRX wheel gap (assuming everything is stock)
That's the best I can do

Reading this thread is making me think. I have had my '06 WRX for about 2 months now, and inside of my rear tires are worn severely more than the outside. I assume this is a hint that the camber is way off. Is there a possibility that my struts are bent as well?

Follup for any interested. I put a new strut on and sure enough that fixed it. Funny thing is I have never hit anything what I would consider to be hard? Either way all is fine.
Did you just replace one strut or all four? Sounds like maybe it was just a random mechanical defect/failure. Stuff happens. Anyway, glad to hear you fixed the problem.

I just had the dealer replace the one strut. Of course it was not covered uner warranty and they could not find any evidence other damage. Very strange. Total cost was $541.00 at Austin Subaru.
No joke!? You can get a set of decent springs and struts for about the price they charged you! If there's no sign of damage, how can they show it wasn't a manufacturer's defect? The labor can't cost that much either, because in my garage with air tools I did mine in less than 3 hours including taking the struts to a shop to use the spring compressor! I don't know what Subaru actually charges for the part, but I'd spend the money on a nice set of gas struts or something long before I'd replace the stock one for anything over $100. I'm sorry, my intention is not to make you feel dumb for having the work done. At least you've had it done by Subaru technicians with Subaru factory parts. Be sure to keep records of stuff like that. Those are the types of things that make people willing to pay more for a car used. It's great to hear your problem is solved though!

Thanks for your feedback. Yes I know it was expensive but I have business to run and don't have the time to do it myself. I looked up KYB's and they were about $150 a pc so I guess the labor was the killer. I had a Mitsu 3000GT VR4 a few years back that I bought new in 94 and the struts were extremely expensive as well so I just did not give it much thougth. BTW, I had it quoted by 3 other local suspension shops and they wanted around $450 or so to do it so I thought I rather pay the extra $100 at the dealer just to have a "Trained Subi" do it. I say that in jest. Again thanks for the feedback.
