I have gotten so confused reading over all the threads on different oil filters. Should I use OEM, Wix, purator Pure one, Mobil 1...if so, what are the part numbers, there seems to be no consistent part numbers available either. From what I have read, I like the Wix for cost and functionality...but do I want 51365, 51356, or 51357?
I have used genuine Subaru oil filters on my WRX since the first oil change. Can't remember the part number, but they are going like $8 including the crush gasket that you should get as well.
i went with what ever frams best filter is this time round (i like the grip tape on the bottom) and i havent had any problems. the guy who owned it before me had some POS filter on it
Fram makes the worst filters... ever. Take one apart and see the quaitly... or lack of for yourself.
I use Wix(Napa Gold) or Subaru OEM filters. I'd get OEM filters all the time, but my dealership rips me off on parts, and I'd use Wix all the time, but they haven't updated their filter design yet.
so wix has not updated their design yet NAPA has even though wix makes NAPA? What are the model numbers for the NAPA filter? Also, for the OEM, do you use 15208AA09A or the 15208AA080?
I use K&N oil filters myself. The part # is 8001, I belive. You can get them at Advance Auto Parts. I've never had any issues with them, except for price. They're $10.
