newb help! White Smoke!

just bought my first subaru and dont know jack about cars. when i first bought the car it ran fine. i had to let it sit for a few weeks but i would start it and let it run a minute or two a day. now i decided to take it down the road despite it not being on the road and smoke, (though my dad claims is condensation) would come out the tailpipe when the accelerator was applied. It was fairly thick. took it out again and more "condensation" came out of the scoop next to the intercooler as well. any help or thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks! !Cry!

Could be anything (out of the scoop??) You have a scoop, get used to condensation coming out of there (under rainy conditions/car washes).

You need to pinpoint where this "smoke" is coming from for us to help you.

when i started going down the road i got a huge cloud of smoke coming out of the tailpipe. i saw it through my rear view mirror. today actually is the first time i drove it in the rain, so i guess the smoke like stuff coming out of the left of the intercooler is normal in the rain. it is a thick white smoke but the car runs fine, just makes me very nervous considering i just bought the car.

Need a leakdown test. What does the smoke out the pipe smell like?

it smells oily, it also leaks onto the pavement and leaves a puddle behind.

the smoke is white. and the puddle is black. I believe the puddles left by the exhaust are normal, but im most worried about the smoke.

Hmmm. Hows your coolant level?

Did you take it to your mechanic prior to paying the CL guy for it?

Have it towed if not. Your insurance should cover it.

well the guy met me halfway and said it was his daily driver, he had to drive a good 20 minutes to make it there, i had no idea insurance would pay for towing, thanks for the advice. do u have any ideas as to what it could be? (expensive?) the coolant levels and oil levels are fine. Ijust took it down the road afgain and it was fine. could it just be because it was sitting?

Possibly, but any residue would have already burned out/off.

Do your routine maint on it, you might just find something. It could be that it's just running THAT rich.

See if you can find a code reader to see if there are any hidden codes (CEL's). Does it have a boost gauge?
