New York potholes?
Hey guys,

I've been very upset with how terrible these roads are taken care of especially with all the money they collect from every1.

I have experience something i do not like... Not one bit

Ran into an invisible pothole that was very deep. the front passenger side wheel took most of the impact but as soon as i hit open road and was hitting 50+mph i felt the steering wheel vibrating excessively.

There is no visible damage from the outside.

Need some feedback on how to proceed with this considering i cant go to the dealer or shop until next week. I work 12hr shifts from wed to saturday. What parts may need to b checked/replaced?

Im thinking of changing the front pass. Wheel with the temp wheel and see how my drive home goes.

Let me know what you guys think.

Maybe you knocked the wheel out of balance.

EDIT: Please let us know the results of your finds when you get whatever is wrong fixed.

I moved here from Australia and the roads over here in PA and Chester County in particular are f--king some of the worst i have driven on. So many damn taxes you guys pay over here and the roads dont get fixed. I dont know why more people arent complaining as its a joke.

In relation to you im guessing a wheel balance and/or alignment too

If it's neither of those, you might have damaged the belt in the tire.

Whats Up from Claifornia, we're in the same boat, insanely high taxes and garbage roads. If you hit the hole hard enough you may have knocked off your balancing patches, if you look on the inside of the wheel you will either see some square weights or rectangle weights, if there is just a sticky spot then Id have the wheels balanced.

If the balancing weights look normal and theres no rim damage you may be lookin at a new tire which isnt that big of a deal.

^ new tire is a big deal for some people. If you need one tire you need 4 tires for these cars being awd, this could depend on mileage of course but odds are 4 new shoes for you.

I have a bit under 8k miles on the car. The weights look fine from the outside but i am going to take the wheel off after work see if there is any dents on the inside of the rim and look for bulges on the tire. I do hope its not the tire. Stock tires are a bit over 200 each.

Quick update with pictures.
I took the tire that hit the pothole off found a dent. There are no bulges or any misshapes on the tire.

I did see some minor fluid residue around the axel and brake line. Let me know if any thinks i should get these checked.

I would take it in. It's still under warranty if something else is wrong.

Thanks i will take it in on monday or tuesday. I was going through all the paper work from when i purchased the car and I have road hazard tire and wheel protection for 60months 0 deductible. I just need to call to file a claim and get a authorization number for the dealer to fix it for free
