New WRX, RPM RANGE?

Yah so I got a 2004 wrx 5spd last week, I was wondering I heard some rumors that you must keep it under 3000rpm till 10000 miles.. Is this just a rumor or is it true.. if that is true then you basically cant boost at all for 10000 miles? What kind of RPM range should I keep it under for X miles? I only have 400 miles on it now. Thanks!~

so.. if i just occasionally push it to 5-6k rpms in 2nd or 3rd thats not going to be bad for the car with low miles any more than it would be if it had 50k miles on it ?
