New really old guy here..wanting to build a Subaru WRX

North Jersey here. I have running my 2 ton SRT8 on road courses and just started auto crossing again after 41 years, yeah I'm that old but I have a heart of a lion. I am looking to either prepare a Subaru for the road course or go something more extravagant like a kit car.

The SRT8 is great for long road courses for HPDE events, Pocono, NJMP, VMP etc., it is not stock, mods I did were to the suspension only for the first two years. In my third year of HPDE, I decided to move to Subaru as I always respected the brand, and the car. So as a newbie, I have a few questions.

1) Who is the best motor builder guru on the forum?
2) Who is the best trans guy?
3) Who is the best tuner on the forum, preferably local to me in North Jersey?

Here's a picture of the old girl in the rain last year, at NJMP:

You might want to contact IAG Performance in Westminster, MD. Although they might not be particularly close to you, they have plenty of experience building top quality show cars as well as serious race cars from the ground up. They did my engine and transmission work. If you have some serious money to spend and don't mind completely rebuilding it frequently, there's nothing better than a KAPS transmission. If your budget won't allow for that, Albins or PPG gears are also great choices.

I am heading down to VA, will try and stop in at IAG, thanks for the Heads up in this.

There's a transmission guru in NJ across the river from Philly, he does the drivetrain work for the US Rally team:

RalliSpec Ltd. Official Website

He did a great job cleaning up my 6-speed (new syncros, clutch, etc) and certainly knows how to handle a substantially upgraded driveline. I know he's done tuning work too but does not have a dyno of his own. Fair warning: they're not set up with lots of overhead for customer service etc so you'll have to nag a little.

04 WRX: SOLD
