NEW, need to find someone to service my car!

hey guys I am semi new to the site and bought a 2002 wrx hatchback about a month ago with about 212k miles i know its kind of a lot but i got it for 4k which was just in my price range and i am very happy, i am 16 years old and live in southern california. because i am new to subaru's and cars in general i was wondering if there were any members who live in southern california who could direct me to where i should service my car or just get everything checked out. preferably i would like the mechanic to be in santa barbara or someplace close to there.
thank you very much!

Have you considered the Suby dealer?

So you bought the car without looking it over/having someone look it over first?

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately you have high miles which means you may need a ton of work just to suspension alone.
I agree with Paul, find a subaru dealer to look it over and give you a quote on what you may need. Good luck!

And Paul, he's 16, remember you were that age twenty years ago. And I think we all know how 16 year old New Yorkers are... Fol

Having lived in Santa Barbara for 3 years (about 10 years ago), I can be sure that the dealer service centers out there will not be a cost effective option.

You might want to see what options you have for independent mechanics in (Old town?) Goleta first (although I wouldn't be too hopeful). Are there still some mechanics that serve the student community in Isla Vista? I know that is going to be "hit or miss" with respect to finding someone with Subaru experience. After that I'd be looking into Ventura for independent mechanics that won't charge you Montecito prices.

Good hunting my friend!

Stroked and stoked!
