I see, alright yeah thats why i liked the ap because i could revert it back to default mapping or what ever the terminology would be so it wouldnt void any warranties. So now If I do come across a downpipe with a cat does that mean I need to get a new up pipe as well or I can just get a down pipe and the borla hush?

Mosc I apologize the reason why I did that was because I had different people responding on both posts so I assumed the people who were responding on that one would be looking at that one and I could get more answers.

Well, you can get the DP with the cat and a Borla hush, and put it on with the Cobb AP (don't forget the high-flow air filter), then install the stage 2 map, but you will run the risk of ruining your turbo (not a good thing). It may not have any ill effects at all, but there is a certain risk in not getting a catless up pipe. I think it only really becomes a problem at higher HP, but as my 07 has a catless up pipe stock, it isn't a problem I have personal experience with.
Search out info on the up pipe, and see what you can find.

you don't need to worry about the up-pipe if you're not going to replace the turbo. It's a safety mod, not a performance mod and going to stage 2 ain't gunna break it.

Course, don't take my word for it. Just look at Cobb's list of mods for Stage 2. It's their map after all.

I just recently bought a AP and I am very pleased with what it can do, you won't be disappionted. After you do that you can get a down pipe to grab a few more horses (around 45-50 all together) and you still have room to grow with EM!! If I'm not mistaken I think the 03's have a cat in the up pipe, that you want to get rid of. I know it has one in the 04 does and that was one of the things that I purchased immediatly after buying the down pipe.

So just use you head and EM and the sky is the limit. (or your wallet)

I see I see, yeah I actually deff want to get that Ap its really seeming very good to me right now, I think assuming me not getting a uppipe wont negatively effect my car I might go ahead and get a downpipe with cats and the borla hush.

your friend is dead wrong.

Cats don't restrict power. It's a 2.0L engine FFS. The Power restriction in the downpipe is the wastegate intersection. Switching to a bellmouth (with or without a cat) is a great power mod. Removing cats is not the best way to add power. Your friend is totally wrong.

You can buy catted downpipes from cobb, helix, and many many other companies. Note: the cat costs about $100 above the catless downpipe.

Ahh thanks, I don't want to say price is no problem because it is but im trying to stay with in legal issues here and in the state of new jersey having a vehicle with no cats past the age of like 72 I think is illegal. So if it means it'll take a extra few weeks to make ends meet then its worth it.
