what are all the supporting mods needed on an 08wrx if upgrading the turbo to a vf52? appreciate if they're classified as:
1. minimum
2. recommended
3. nice to have

(handling-related mods excluded)

i did some research and found that the intercooler, fuel pump, and injectors of the 08wrx are actually the same as the ones on the 09wrx. so, aside from the tune after installing the vf52, i suppose there's nothing else i need?

Depends how much above a stage 2 tune you are wanting to go.

Check BoostAddict's thread (maybe better called a novel) on his upgrades of his 08 WRX. He did a VF52 and he needed to change the injectors. Are you sure that the injectors are the same on an 08 WRX to 09 WRX? I thought they were different. WHP varies significantly depending on the dyno, but we'd be talking somewhere in the range of 230-250 WHP (unless someone corrects me) on a VF52 running stage 2.

Technically, an 08, running an increased size in turbo and intercooler, would be stage 3, no? I mean, it'd be stage 2 on an 09, but I think on an 08 it'd be stage 3. Semantics, I know.

are you referring to this boostaddict thread? -> My 09 WRX Build

my source on the 08 and 09 wrx injectors being the same is unabomber's manifesto over at the nasioc forums.

I "personally" wouldn't use Vim's threads as a resource. He's on his 3rd engine it seems.

My 2¢

But if you insist, he is over here --> http://www.3gwrx.com/forum/

Vim didn't heed our advise and thought he knew better than us...eh. Such is life..its one of the reasons he is no longer on our forum.

Never did understand why he's gone. His account just looks suspended, not banned.

I was referring to a different thread, on his silver '08 WRX. I didn't go through the work of looking for it or I would have seen that it's no longer available. Anyway, I could be wrong about the injectors. I never did put a VF52 on my 08 WRX.
