I've done the search for this already and i got bits and pieces of info, which i can make sense of, but still not to an absolute certainty. So, i thought of posting just to confirm my understanding...

I just got a 2008 wrx and i was wondering what the most practical bolt-on mods i need to the 2008 wrx to match the whp numbers of the newer 2009 wrx.

Is the mod guide http://www.wrxtuners.com/forums/f51/_the_-wrx-modification-guide-complete-4007/ applicable for all wrx year models?

In that guide, do i just need to perform mods A to D to match the 2009 wrx?

hi, pjkolosha.

the vf52 is the stock turbo of the 09wrx, churning out 265hp at the crank. it will bolt-on perfectly on an 08wrx since it was a "quick fix" on the 08wrx after they got bad feedback about it not having enough power (stock 08wrx has around 225hp).

to get 300whp on an 08wrx, you'd need:
1. an 18g or equivalent turbo
2. aftermarket exhaust
3. larger intercooler
4. fuel pumps
5. injectors
6. good tune

hey thanks sugeina.

i was really wanting to just get the vf52 just ### ive heard a lot of good things about the turbo..except for the fact that it cuts power to early. im not too familiar with modding subarus. im just a mechanic that fixes car trouble and a lot of body work haha trying to learn more about the modding world. do you have a good turbo in mind that has a lot of experience behind it and works great?

if i'm not mistaken, these turbos won't bolt-on on the 08wrx. you'll have to custom fit them, right?

if you haven't found this link already, and willing to do some more reading, here's a related post i found:

also, bolt-on turbo options for the 08wrx:

now, i have no experience with any of those, but i thought they're worth some consideration.

wow i just checked out the turbos you listed in the first link (16G, 18G, and 20G) and for those prices i might be going with those. i really don't wanna make my 08 insanely fast (for now) but i thought it would be nice to have 300 or so awhp. And all those turbos were able to handle them! PRZ do u have any experience with these turbos? oh and btw great link that talked about what turbo i should get....great info!

i agree you can reach your 300awhp goal with the VF52 with the least amount of spool time. but should you want more power later on (350awhp-range), you'll be limited with the vf52.

supporting mods are what i mentioned in my earlier post: intercooler, exhaust, injectors, pumps, tune /engine mgt.

here's a basic starter's guide: http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/engine-modifications/134325261-first-modifications-what-do-not-do.html
