Mods that you wish that you hadn't done.

This thread is kind of for the benefit of the newer members. We can sit here and say what sucks and what doesn't, but posting some of the stupid mods that you've done might steer the newbies away from doing them themselves.

I'll be the first to post my silly mistakes.

1. Ebay "clear" side markers, man those thing's are retarded. I just put the stock amber ones back on.

2. HKS SSQV, this is obvious. I loved the bov sound, but it gets annoying after about 3 days. Plus the afterfire pops get pretty freakin' loud.

These are the only ones I can think of for now, I'm sure that some might think the K&N short ram that I put on is dumb, but I have EM, so, .

Don't be proud, I know everyone's done something to their WRX that's dumb.

Post away.

Wow, you said it man.

1. Perrin short ram intake. sold it.
2. apex bov. got to annoying. sold it.
3. ebay clear markers. everytime i wash the car i think they are gonna fall off.
being my car is black i might just put the stockers on or get carbon fiber ones.
DO NOT get the ebay cheapies. they dont fit worth a crap.

For the few of us that have 4EAT's:

DO NOT upgrade your turbo before modifying your torque converter. You've got to get all that power to the ground before it does any good. Stage 2 was OK with stock trans, but a TC mod should definitely be completed before going any further.

HKS DP, not that it's that bad it's just that the bell mouth design is better. I now have a Helix DP.

I still think someone should do it, as long as the flange doesn't get warped it should be pretty wicked.

It's not a mod that's for the faint of heart though. Once the wg opens up, it's going to be loud as hell.

DIY painting sideskirts... I'm having the professionally painted when I get my car repaired since my rattle can job is all scratched up from people kicking it when entering the car

STi hoodscoop paint job. I didn't do my homework. "fangs" were painted by the shop and not masked off like how the STi comes from the factory and drove me nuts. I have a replacement in my closet I just got a few days ago. I'm gonna have it repainted and sell it.

Used TurboXS UTEC. Again, I didn't do my homework. If you buy an older hardware model made for the 02/03s, it will throw a CEL on the 04s. When I go power hungry again, I will still use the UTEC as my EM, however.

Perrin O2 Simulator. Doesn't work on my 04, now I'm battling with a prototype one Perrin gave me to try and solve my problem. Go with the manual fix using the 2 spark plug antifoulers

MOMO eBrake handle. Wasn't a perfect fit, and in an attempt to try and make it perfect, I broke it and wasted $70 of Italian beauty

Apexi TT. Well, I can't really say much since I haven't installed it yet. I refuse to cut my shock sensor on my car alarm to have the benifit of my car turbo timed. I will one day finish that mod that will allow my to keep both.. but I have no time.

DIY painting brake calipers... it only draws more attention to how ugly the stockers are. On top of that, the cinder they spray on the road during the winter chipped the living hell out of them

Subaru upgraded sound system. I didn't really have a choice on this one since it was already on the car. Well, it sucks.

Not a mod but... Windex, ArmorAll products (although I use their tire gel), DuPont Teflon Wheel cleaner. I now use Stoners Invisible Glass, 303 Aerospace Protectant, Meguires Back to Black, Meguires Gold Class car shampoo... not respectivally of course

That's what I got off the top of my head... told you guys im anal about my car.

you dont, a shop does. not being mean, but if you have to ask how, then you probably shouldnt touch that. its apart of the transmission and i wouldnt go there if you dont have the experience. but that is just me.

when i asked i didn't specify that i'd do it. i was just wondering if i had to purchase something or what it entailed. i assumed it had to do with the tranny.
