Hey folks, new owner of 2002 WRX looking to set up stage one:
Question: I like the Perrin catted downpipe, but would like to know if it will bolt on to the Borla twin tip cat back?
Anyone try this yet?
Also, would like to know if an aftermarket clutch kit would be required for the extra power...my plan is to open up the air flow with turbo back mod, and replace fuel pump for more fuel + cobb access port.
As long as they both have the donut gasket connection they'll be good. I know the Perrin does and I'm pretty sure Borla does too. As for the clutch I would leave it. You're not going to be going too nuts with the power at stage II. If anything the clutch will be the weak link and save the rest of the tranny.

Yeah, thats stage 2 my friend. Not stage 1. Stock trans ='s stock clutch (On 5MTs at least) and you're not going to notice a bit of difference with a fuel pump on a OTS map. You'd need a protune to take advantage of that.
Thanks guys, I obviously need to reconsider my perspective concerning the fuel pump, by protune I assume you mean bigger injectors...would the accessport not have the necessary perameters to tweek this aspect of the modification?
The Cobb AP can handle that. It will have an OTS (gneric map meant to work with any type of TBE configuration and car) map for that. Your fuel pump will be fine. I ran stage 2 for over a year on the stock unit, and there are people that have done it longer than that. If you get bigger injectors, or intercooler, or turbo you would need a protune. Heres a listing of Cobbs Map Notes for an 02 WRX. If you follow these notes you can use the map through the AP. But if you decide to use a different turbo or differenet size injectors than what the map calls for you would need a different tune (which can be done through the AP).

What I meant is: That you won't see any gains by just adding a fuel pump to a OTS map. If you want the fuel flow to be higher. You're going to have to get a protune to advance the fuel flow tables. That or mess around with Race TunerAccess (The street tuner software, not recommended if your not familar with tuning.)
Otherwise, it won't hurt anything until you step up to a bigger setup and can take advantage of it. Just run the stock fuel pump until you're willing to take advantage of the increased fuel flow.
