So with the 18/8/+40's what is going to happen? In terms of stance how will it sit? - Also what will happen to my ride quality that was mentioned above.

Looking for Wheels. -Questions

Well your wheel is going to be 13mm further out than originally. That's a 1/2" which is going to put the edge of your wheel pretty much perfectly aligned with the top of the wheel well. Down toward the bottom of the wheel wells your tire is def going to be sticking out, so I seriously recommend mud flaps if you're going to get them!

^[edit: wide body info]^

With that kind of change in offset, you will see...

Understeer due to offset change

A shorter lifespan on...
Hub/Bearings
Struts
Springs
Tires

Jesus.

I need wheels, but I don't want to destroy my car... I like the "concave" look but if the 18x8 won't be that concave than whats the point?

I'm having some serious difficulties trying to figure out what I'm going to do.

I feel like 8.5 is a good width - whats the ideal offset on that kind of wheel?

And if I did go with a +40 offset would I have to roll my fenders?

Your ideal offset is of course stock: +55.

And if I did go with a +40 offset would I have to roll my fenders?
Matters on wheel and tire width. 225 tire on an 8" wheel, probably not. Anything more, yes.

What are my options here. I want a good set of sneakers for my car.

Not looking spend a pile of cash (temporary till January when I upgrade to an STi).

Looking for something concave, thick spokes is nice like the ones I listed already.. Or the BBS reps with the dish.

What is the "ideal" offset for an 18/8.5? 44+?

We ALL like the look of concave wheels lol! It's just whether you're willing to sacrifice your car to have them.

I personally like to push toward the boundaries to get "the look" I want, but don't cross the line. An 8.5" wheel with a 40mm offset is past the line IMO. But everyone wants the "stanced" look these days, and wide widths with low offsets is how you create that.

The wider you go, the higher offset you want. So on an 8.5" wheel you "ideally" wanna be around the original 55mm offset to not effect things as much. But again, you can push the boundaries a bit.

If you find an 8" you like, you could go as low as 45mm IMO. Anything lower, and there will be serious effects.

What size tires you have for these anyways? Buying new or using old? This may depict wheel width recommended.

Edit to the posts above also OP from me.

Forgot you're not in a wide body (11+) so the comments about where your wheel will be sitting wouldn't be accurate. But I think we've talked you out of the 8.5" wheels anyways. Still wanted to say something though...

Going from a 7" to 8" wheel, and a 45mm instead of 55mm basically equates to your new wheel sitting just about 1" further outward than the OE wheel sits now. Do yourself a favor and break out the tape measurer. Put the tape measurer on the top of the wheel and come out 1" and look directly from atop the wheel well downward. That's where your 8" 45mm offset wheel is gonna be.

standard 225/50/r18

I'm entirely lost on wheels unfortunately.

Almost to the point that idk if its even worth it.

so not having the widebody - does that mean the +40 is even worse?
