Its either a blow off valve or the sotkc (could be aftermarket) by pass valve and the guy has an intake. If you look under vidoes by users, using the screenname newtothegame1, you can hear my 2007 with my Cobb TBE and SRI, the stock BPV is much more noticable after doing those mods.

That guy has an aftermarket turbo, probably a FMIC so therefore running an aftermarket BOV.

BOV techincally means vent to atmosphere. BPV is the correct term if it's recirculating. It could be a BOV but it could just be a BPV. Most BOV's are designed to chirp so that one sounds more like a BPV. That's a large turbo setup so it's got a lot of air to release.

Awkward how u seem to have a nice built car OP and your asking what the woossshhhhh sound is.

But yea it's a BOV. Wouldn't be surprised if you had an EWG.

Edit: My apologies, I saw your other thread stating how you are new. This is in the newb forum my bad.

Research, research, research. We are all very patient here with answering your questions but you will be surprised how much info you could find and knowledge about your car just from looking around

rollin on 17's now and they're dirty

^ Are you serious?

Lemme ed-u-ma-cate you real quick:

1. It's the thing that allows air to be brought in to your engine

2. A modern air intake system should have three main parts: an air filter, mass flow sensor, and throttle body. Many cars today now include a silencer to minimize the noise entering the cabin. Silencers impede air flow and create turbulence which reduce total power, so many performance enthusiasts often remove them (specific to WRX/STis, look up the "Snorkus delete mod"). Production cars have specific length air intakes to cause the air to vibrate and buffett at a specific frequency to assist air flow in to the combustion chamber. Aftermarket companies for cars have introduced larger throttle bodies and air filters to decrease restriction of flow at the cost of changing the harmonics of the air intake for a small net increase in power or torque.
