K@N flat panel air filter

Does the K@N flat panel replacement filter set codes off or even help any performance wise?

No issues, I have a K&N drop in filter in my 2012 WRX myself. This is a quick upgrade to your intake without doing a tune if you install a CAI for example.
I believe there is a slight improvement as I do get better throttle response and a slightly better gas mileage from before install.

It's a drop in replacement. It shouldn't set off any codes nor should you see any improvements in performance.

Another plus is that you can get the recharge kit for it and won't have to worry about buying one again.
Ive had mine for over 2yrs and no complaints here. It might give the car a little something extra, just nothing on a biblical scale.

A K&N panel air filter was my very first modification back in April 2007 and my car only had about 800 miles on it at the time. I never really noticed any difference between that and the stock filter, but I wasn't romping on the car at the time, so I can't really say if there was a noticeable difference. All I know is that K&N filters are known for flowing more air, so if the engine breathes easier, it probably makes a little more power and gets a little better gas mileage. I cleaned the filter regularly (probably about once per year) until last year when I switched to a big maf intake. I actually ended up selling the filter to one of the members of this forum and it was still in like new condition.
