Intake question

I'm a car newby and currently looking to buy a used 2005 wrx, and the one I'm interested in has a modified intake and exhaust system.

Now I have read on these forums that its bad to modify the intake early on a wrx, causing the engine to run too lean? (excuse me if my terminology is wrong) How much of an issue is this? Is it possible to modify it back to stock?

I intend to drive my car casually and not modify anything in the near future.

Go on the classifieds and buy a stock intake. Orrrrrr, take the car, the way it is to professionally tuned and leave it as is.... Does the car have any engine management ???

Another option is to buy a non modded car.. plain and simple. Find out these things BEFORE you buy the car.

i put the spt intake on my 07 wrx and i have had no problems at all. Just make sure the driver hasn't abused it, since it is lightly modified.

The mods are ok. SPT intakes are not going to negitively effect the engine.
