Idle and wot issues

Hey guys,

Posting for my brother in law who has a 07 WRX TR, with injen CAI, Cobb turbo downpipe and catback exhaust, and BOV. Here is the long back story wrapped up as quick as I can. Needed a clutch took it to a local trans shop and when he picked it up, grind city and took it back. They removed clutch and stated that the clutch was defective. Paid to ship it back. Clutch company sent us new one but basically told us install error. We called shop and removed the car ASAP. Well they had the trans and driveshaft out and all kinds of things were taken off that didn't need to.

A buddy of mine is a ASE certified mechanic and we took him the car, and the trans and driveline and boxes of mixed bolts and nuts. He put it all back together. since then the only issue with the car is the original code being thrown which is a small evaporation leak. Check engine and cruise lights are on. Choppy idle and sometimes will stall out. Also under wot, you feel a bit of hesitation. Any thoughts?

We have changed the battery, starter, map sensor, double checked all grounds and fuses. We are stumped right now as to where to even begin with the evap leak.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you

Brad

First of all, is there any type of tune on the car? If not, you'll want to get some kind of "Stage 2" tune as soon as possible.

You can check the code(s) behind the CEL by taking the car to your local auto parts place (Pep Boys, Auto Zone, etc.) and sometimes they'll do it for free. You can also read the CEL code(s) with a Cobb AccessPORT which would also allow you to have a "Stage 2" map on the car's ecu.

If the blow off valve vents to atmosphere, get rid of it as soon as possible. Switch back to a stock bypass valve or a unit that fully recirculates the air.

The aftermarket CAI could also be causing some issues.
