The D.C. beltway sucks! I'm too busy dodging cell phone talking idiots to have much fun with my new WRX. I did manage to get my old 2000 S4 up to 145 while driving through New Mexico about 18 moths ago. I'd love to do the same with the WRX, but need Z rated tires first. At that speed, I'm afraid these M+S's will shred off like a Krispy Kreme on the end of a power drill!
If anyone needs a morale boost, my first WRX experience was back when I lived in Michigan. I was driving my Dad's 2000 911 convertible. While sitting at a red light I looked to my right and made eye contact with a blue WRX. The light turned green and I thought I'd show him my exhaust. I gunned the Porsche and he did the same. When we let up at about 60 mph he was about a quarter panel ahead. At the next light I asked him "what the hell do you have in that thing?" He repled, "nothing, its a stock WRX!"
word... 495 sucks, but 270 up near Frederick is fun, and 340 out towards Charlestown, WV is nice.
I've gone 125+ in my Civic up in PA, was doing 110-120 the other night chasing my friend riding my YZF-600R. I think he was doing about 150, but the speedo is broken so he couldn't tell anyway :P
Got pulled over on Highway 12 in NC (Outer Banks, between Avon and Kill Devil Hills) doing 110 in a 55 the week I got my car. Got pulled over by an undercover cop, saying stuff like "Why are you out here trying to kill people?" He let me off, after telling my family on the phone. The alternative was to go to jail... my punishment was that I couldn't drive alone for a week, at the beach, where had nowhere to go anyway :P
Now karma has caught up and I have 3 tickets pending, all for 9MPH over the speed limit in retarded situations. I'm going to fight them in court, and at least plead "Guilty With Explaination", which usually results in you paying a reduced fine, and no points on your lisence.
I got my mom's dodge caravan to 100 MPH on a flat road. It stopped there. There are so many nice stretches of empty highway for speeding on around here. I-80 express lane (Concrete dividers on both sides, no traps possible). My friend took his grand caravan to 120. Cops tend to pull over sporty cars out of spite more than other cars. A cop was on my ass at 2AM doing 80 in a 55 and he didnt pull me over when i made it seem like i was just passing someone and slowed down. I believe if i had been driving anythign other than a caravan I would have been pulled over. I should get my own WRX on tuesday. We'll see how fast I am willing to take it.
on my first attempt to go as fast as i could i could only do 115-120, my car was sorta unstable and wobbly, but once i lowered my car with tein s techs, i took it to 135mph and it was smooth as a baby's bare ass
i think the scariest high speed event of my life was coming back form LA. on my way down the grape vine i droped the dodge duely i was in to N and coasted down no brakes. the thing pegged the speed-o, but only because i was towing a neon on a trailer. but it was failry tame as long as you keep the wheel straight
hehe
i was racing a 15 passanger van and the govoner kicks in at like 95 on those duelys... how lame is that.
I had an unmarked cop car behind me yesterday and did not realize it was one. He was tailing me so bad I couldn't see his headlights. Me being the crazy driver I am thought someone wanted to play on the highway with me. I downshifted and walked away from him. Then about a mile later when I slowed down, I saw red lights come flying up on me. When I pulled over he said "70 mph is ok, we all do it. But 125 mph is not ok." Luckily he didn't give me a ticket. I think he was off duty.
Also, about a month ago, me and my friends went past a state trooper doing about 130mph racing some hot girls in a G35 and he didn't even pull me over. He came up behind me and just went around me. I thought I was going to get arrested for that one, but I've been pretty lucky lately. Knock on wood.

On my extended test drive (I'm borrowing the car until the financing is completed) tonight, I got my WRX wagon up to 105, before i felt the turbo giving up and I had to slow down for a light :/
This thing is SO ridiculously fast, I can't believe it!
I posted on here a while back when i had only hit 95 or so. Two nights ago i was out in the country and went 110, then backed off, then 120 and then 120 again and finally go it up to 130 before i got a little scared.
Well I have some updates from last time. The mercedes (speedo goes to 180) I got to 170. Sold the 4runner, got a 2006 and got up to 125 with a couple days worth of clothes and 4 studded tires in the car, 2 in the trunk, 2 in the backseat with AC pumpin. What a rush.

i dont know what it is in miles per hour but my friends gps unit said i was doing 273km/h,
apparently the front splitter and high rear spoiler on my version 6 STI do create downforce because at speeds over 150km/h it was very stable. (for a car going that fast on a country backroad) i think i might be up for a new set of brake rotors though
