Tickets:
Bike - 1
Co. car - 2
WRX - 0

Top Speed:
Zero tickets so far because I keep her away from interstates & populated areas. Since mine's a 4eat, at WOT she won't catch 4th until about 118. Don't really know how fast I'm going since I'm on a winding 2 lane & things are happening too fast for me to look down. I do know that I lose sight of the speedo needle behind the boost gauge at a little past 130 and by then I'm out of road anyway. 17" Toyo Proxes4 on Rota rims help a little. Also, an AccessPort (or other ECU upgrades, I think) will take out all govenors & limiters except for your right foot.

I am not sure why Subaru chose a speedo that goes up to 140 because I had mine well over that. As it began to enter the cut out area where the LCD for milage is displayed, and there were still 1200 PRM until redline, I began to back off sine the Inifiniti G20t was well in the rear view. I believe I was somewhere in the 150MPH range based on how goes going 80-90 were standing still and I was near an Inch past 140MPH.

I broke a speedo in a toyota pickup I have that is set up for off roading and it was quite the hassle to repair and I didn't want to go through this with my WRX.

Also, does anyone know what the factory specs on top speed per gear are projected to be? B/c I've done well over 60MPH in second (actually peak just over 70MPH as I meet the redline) and I have verified the calibration of my speedo.

Peace...

2nd peaks around 62mph.
3rd peaks around 94mph.
4th peaks around 130mph(never really got a good chance to look at the speedo going this fast however.)

As for 5th, I can go 50mph at 2000rpms and about 100mph at 4000rpms, so I figure 25mph for every 1k in rpms. So, at 7000rpms you'd be going approx. 175mph. I would say this is a pretty good estimate and I'd be willing to bet its not off by more then 5mph. Now getting a WRX to 175 is a totally different story.

I've been to 121 on Rota SDRs w/ Falken Ziex 512s. I pulled because
A. Ran out of room on the straightaway
B. Front end got REAL LIGHT. Won't be doing that much anymore...

Wow! I haven't been here in a while either, I did 135 today but I had the speedo well past 140 before, guessing 150 MPH give or take a few, on stock tires... scary! Many mods since then and aloy more stable with F/R sway bars at high speeds.

My speed....

I have got my subie up to 145mph. I was racing a corvette, bmw m3, and a STI. It was so much fun!!!!!! I came in second place... Now, I know that it is dumb and very immature....but who cares.....if you have a subie and don't get that kind of excitement, then you should buy a geo metro.

The D.C. beltway sucks! I'm too busy dodging cell phone talking idiots to have much fun with my new WRX. I did manage to get my old 2000 S4 up to 145 while driving through New Mexico about 18 moths ago. I'd love to do the same with the WRX, but need Z rated tires first. At that speed, I'm afraid these M+S's will shred off like a Krispy Kreme on the end of a power drill!

If anyone needs a morale boost, my first WRX experience was back when I lived in Michigan. I was driving my Dad's 2000 911 convertible. While sitting at a red light I looked to my right and made eye contact with a blue WRX. The light turned green and I thought I'd show him my exhaust. I gunned the Porsche and he did the same. When we let up at about 60 mph he was about a quarter panel ahead. At the next light I asked him "what the hell do you have in that thing?" He repled, "nothing, its a stock WRX!"

In a Mercedes CLK320 about 145mph is my highest, car still had some left, speedo goes to 180 or 160. In my 4runner though watch out! It gets up to like 100 on flats and at least 110 downhill haha. Such a beater!
