The governor is capped at 130mph by the ECU. Fuel cuts out until you fall a speed below 130mph.

Thats not the stock ECU cutting it at 130 is it? I have an 04 5spd and I've been over 140 on many occasions.

The manual WRX does not have a govener. At least not in my 04. I've hit 140+ multiple times. The engine is drag limited.

I read somewhere that the 04 was aerodynamically governed at 140 stock. Just food for thought. Now any performance mod will add to the top speed due to the increase in HP.

if you took your wing off you would be able to get another mph or 2 out of it.

95 in a 30 told the cop that it could have been his car that was going that fast and that his radar gun was ####ed. Cost me 50 bucks plus 6 months probation. Not too bad

140mph aint a big deal.

and down force kicks in at about 118-122 depending on the form factor of the wing element and the aero of the car

edit: we are talkin street cars here. race cars are completly diferent animal

I understand that but I have driven a 04 WRX with out the stock spoiler before I bought mine. There was a big difference in drive feel after 100MPH IMO. The one without the spolier seemed to "float" and I didnt like that.

thats common, its how the air builds up under the car. diference in density to the air moving over the car.
