I was on my way home from work one night at about 11 pm and i saw a lady doing 100mph + in an Acura TL coming up on my left side (I was doing about 80) and the next thing i know as she SHOULD of been aproaching my rear quarter panel, i am seeing lights on my interior roof and then in my mirror...that was an odd angle that caught my eye.. so i looked back just in time to watch her car float in the air like a piece of paper. I could see the whole undercarriage of the car......Just as it flew into the woods and wrapped around a tree. It was one of the worst things i have ever seen in my life...(and the loudest- it was an incredibly loud explosion of twisting metal) Too see a car sustain that kind of damage makes you think twice about your own safety..That young lady turned out to be a 45 year old woman with 3 kids and a husband....She did not survive..... I dont mean to bring down the party guys..But just be safe....speed is fun..I do it too.....Just not too often when i think of that night....We all have families....I am not tryin to preach..just remember u have to pay to play sometimes... Top end on these cars is NOT stable.
Keep it safe guys, thats all
All of you must realize that driving over 100 on a public road is risky business. Like it was said, any other drunk, impaired or stupid driver could put your lights out forever. And with a passenger, you're risking their life, too. What if your tire blew out at 145 MPH?
Some of the messages above that laugh about getting pulled over at 40-over speeds. You're eventually going to lose one of the most precious things you have: the freedom to drive on a public road (your license).
That said, I've done more than a few stupid things in my younger days. I did 151 in a Mustang 5L on a remote straight highway with no traffic. I just got a '03 wrx and won't push it until I get Z rated tires.
Your need for speed can be met legally and relatively safely on a race track. You can race, time-trial, autocross, or rally with SCCA. Many car clubs like BMWCCA run driving schools at race tracks. They don't all require you to drive their marque. For three years I raced Formula Fords on slicks in SCCA and Formula 2000's at Bridgestone Racing in Canada. Highly recommended. Cornering at 1.3 g's. All these organized clubs require safety checks on your car and a proper helmet, and maybe a racing harness and roll cage. The safety stuff generally works. I walked away from an 80 MPH impact (*BANG*!) with a concrete wall at New Hampshire International Speedway, and I raced (in another car) the next morning.
I'm amazed a how some people think that cops were being "nice" or "let them off with..." - I'd be pissed they pulled me over in the first place. I have been driving for years and never had an accident due to speed - I see nothing wrong with driving say- 90 on an open highway. Look at Europe! The cops are filling their quotas and the towns are getting their money. Always fight tickets - Wonder if there are any cops on this forum? WRX is a great ride for someone immune to tickets! - Now if we could just get them to raise the DWI limit...
hehe,you asked.i write them,when needed of course!

my other ride is your girl friend
to each is own
a few weeks i got pulled over on I684 in westchester county, ny
the cop said i was doin 111mph, and that my mirror tints were illegal. the dude was a total douche, ### i was racin to the next exit ### i had to take a shit. so he made me sit there for about 20 mins while he sat in his car havin a good ol' time writing me out 2 seperate tickets... then he grilled me about havin drugs on me and bullshit like that, padded me down, and sent me on my way after finding nothing...there was noone else on the road really, and as soon as i saw him, i pulled over, i had stopped about 10 yards from where he was. i almost wanted to tell him that he would have never caught me if i kept goin...oh well, maybe next time..pleaded not guilty but i'm still ####ed when i get to court, the only thing i can hope for is that, since it was a radar gun, that it hadn't been calibrated in a while....
the 05 has fuel cutoff at 155 :-) but i think it'll do 160. just have to find the right stretch of road.. doing 155 was enough of a rush, i don't think i'll attempt that again.
im not bullshiting no one here i reach the 146 and i hear a big noise on the front mabe the win on the scoop but it sound like a wheel berring anyway i did it a couple of time and it always depend where you did it if the road going downhill a bit or up hill you know
I have had my speedo burried and still pulling with my stock '04 along side two vipers, very intense, alot of fun. As far as tickets go, I had my car for about three weeks and got pulled over for 92 in 55. Cop was cool enough to let me go with a highway rules violation, equal to like a parking on a highway. Very lucky me!

might not have been that cop that got ya, but one of them would.
best quote ive heard from a cop "you can outrun me and my cruiser, but you cant outrun my radio"
