HID Kit for 06 WRX

Anyone have any good suggestions on a HID kit for a 06 WRX? I am just starting to work on the necessities first since I will get it at the end of the week. Also, if you could tell me how much should the installation costs be around so I don't get ripped off at the shop.

Also, a friend says 4500K is optimal for maximum lighting but it goes up to 12000K from what I saw. So which one would be best. I'm not out there to blind ppl and annoy them, just want to see better in dark, rain, snow, and such.

From what I understand, 5200k is the maxium light output with little or no color... maybe it was 5600k. Eh, it's in the thread somewhere.

12000 is junk. Expensive garbage. Well unless you want purple light that is duller than the stock headlights. I dont know about you but my stock 06 lights are bright enough for me. Drive the 06 for a while before you go ordering aftermarket parts just so you dont waste money.

Are you replacing the light housings with projector housings, or just the bulbs?

Using HID bulbs in halogen housings is illegal, and for good reason. Even if you aim them downward, there will be excessive glare that will make you one of the Aholes on the road that looks like their hi-beams are always on.

4300K is the brightest, closest to daylight

my friend has 12000, ugly and way to dark.

i have 6000k, its not bad. has nice white/blue tint, but i'm actually going to get 4300 next time, would rather have more light.

Could someone confirm whether or not the 2006 WRX has projector housing? I am starting a new overnight position and need some better headlights then the stock junk.

So I would technically just need the bulb or?
I know this has possibly been answered before, but I spent the last 6 hours looking through old threads where people just keep asking the same question without any clear answer.

Am I to understand that I only need a HID Kit then? DC the DRL's (which is easy) and plug and play the light kit. I wont need a full conversion kit because I have projector's already. However I need a Kit and not just a new bulb, because the connectors are different.

If that sounds like it, then I just need to decide on the brightness, and if I really want to mess with the DRL, which I actually like having there.

Thanks!! ~E

I will be installing a 4300k hid kit in the next week , I will take pictures of what the cutoff line looks like with the stock halogen prejectors ..........as well as upluging the drl and install a high beam set to really throw some light output on my 2008 rex......

Heck yeah they do, just watch a Le Mans race at night. Every car running has their HID high beams on. Freaking bright as heck.
