Hi to all.newbie here!

Hi all old timers and fellow forumers
i am new to this forum and currently driving a 05 wrx with some mild mods.
i am based in asia .

ok here comes my question.i am currently on a blitz nur spec R catback and it was a gift from a mate who stays in the states.sadly the exhaust doesnt come with a silencer as stated in the blitz website.
so i went out to my local blitz distributor and purchase the original blitz nur spec r silencer.
after they install , they claim that there are some slight knocking sound ( the silencer knocking the inner part of the muffler) and said that the blitz catback i have is "US spec" and the inner diameter is slightly larger than that of the JDM spec they carry.so could any kind souls out there can verify or provide a solution? to do anyway the sound without changing the entire exhaust? previously i have use the apexi evc butterfly valve but the cables snapped and thus i am skeptical about using it ever again.
thanks alot.

Check NASIOC, I bet someone over there is selling the silencer you need and most of the stuff is sold out of the US. You might just have to find someone that is willing to ship internationally.

BTW, welcome to the site!!

what is the inner diameter of your exhaust tip? I have one in my garage, I'm not sure what size it is, i think it was meant to fit in a 4 inch tip.

if you are willing to pay the shipping + 20 dollars, I will send it to you. pm me if you are interested.

yea mate.thats right.the cops here or i would say the guys from the land transport authority are on the balls nabbing cars out there with loud exhaust or illegal modifications.and its very strict over here.simple stuff like change of aftermarket downpipe gets ## car compounded and fined minimum 500bucks.
and the only legal exhaust system here are those with jasma cert from japan and must come with full certificate and exhaust diagrams.and strictly no turbo backs here except for track days.
the only legal ones we have here for the wrx/sti are
fujitsubo legalis R or the super R
trust ti or the ti pe
supersprint axle back
Hks legamax
Hks silent hi power.
this are the few i can remember for now.pathetic isnt it?
i wish i can slap on some kakimoto and have fun!
ok heres a quick guide of our system here when u purchase a aftermarket exhaust.

1)head down to your favourite store to purchase the exhaust system
2)make sure its street legal and already certified legal on your particular ride.
3)have it installed and pay the moola.
4)get the original manufacturer certificate stamped by the workshop.
5)drive down to your nearest vehicle inspection centre and get it inspected and checked.
6)obtain the "approved" letter which clearly states that ,that particular exhaust system with that exact serial number is registered to your actual car license plate and car owner.

very time consuming and you be paying a premium for that.oh ya,for the inspection , you pay 60 bucks for it as well.and legal exhaust systems here cost a hell lot more than the real performance ones.

Wow, getting anything over stock power there sounds like a real royal PITA. At least you are committed to it.

haha yea its PITA over here.thats why the best thing we do here is to "hide" the parts .or at least have one or two legal bits on the outside so they wont poke too much further.
and what i have done to my catless downpipe is , i get a stock downpipe and have the exhaust welder cut the stock casing out.and have it welded onto my aftermarket downpipe.then finally have it sprayed matte silver.so from a glance when you pop your bonnet.it looks almost identical to the stock ones.this at least prevents your vehicle from being towed back to their HQ for a throughout inspection inside out.

been a long time since i last came in here.busy with work as i was out-stationed and stuff.
solved the blitz problem as i sold it away and got mahself some nice HKS 409 hi power jdm and customized lenght kakumei 3" d/p. finally sent my ride for some servicing after not driving it for bout nearly 2 mths.tons of knocking sound from coilovers and had it sent for full overhaul.
cleaned up my ride and took some erm "weird" colour pics.
cheers

with or without silencer for the blitz its still not approved here though.but reason for having the silencer is to reduce the noise level so as not to attract too much unwanted attention .
cheers
