the torquey EJ255 works fine with an auto (like wrx1380 bas) but it's not a great matchup with the EJ205 (like subaho has). A good tune will help (like LiL Shoaf recommended) but ultimately you should realize the limitations of the car you bought. It would be more cost effective to trade it in on something else if you wanted more. Particularly from a stop, the auto takes a while to build revs.

A protune is where you take it to a specialized shop and they reflash your ecu (the computer in your car)...it can run in the like the 3-4 hundred dollar range I believe. By changing the settings on the computer your car would gain a good increase in power! You could also look into a Cobb Accessport, its around the same price as a protune or two and you can change it as much as you want!
thanks for the advise, but what is a protune? im a female, and dont know much about these things
Being a female should not stop you from learning about your car or anything else when necessary. You won't be able to accelerate effectively off the line in a 2.0 auto no matter what kind of tune you put on it because you have low torque, long gears, and no boost from a stop. You can definitely increase performance in higher rev ranges but you are probably never going to step on it and smell rubber. Don't worry, most of us can't.
Getting that DP and a tune via Cobb AP/open source/protune would help some though. I remember that you're kinda gun shy on Engine management from your last thread. But, it helps a lot.
Go stage 2. If you want the transmission to respond good your gonna have to get a built 4eat tranny. Then you would be able to do launches and much more. A friend of mine has a full IPT built tranny along with the high stall torque converter and a upgraded driveshaft. Thing is wicked fast!
ok, I apologize for my previous post now knowing your new to modding. As a whole I think we assume most people have turned a few wrenches already..
As was stated several times the automatic transmission is slow when driven by the 2.0L wrx motor. There are several options however to help out.
1 - purchase a new Up-Pipe (Pipe that leads from the exhaust manifold up to the bottom of the turbo) which does not have a catalytic converter in it. This will help the exhaust air flow from the motor to get to the turbo quicker and easier to spool it up quicker.
2 – get an aftermarket Down-Pipe (Large pipe that comes out of the back of the turbo down under the car to the catback system) this is allow the air to leave the turbo quicker putting less resistance on it. You should also get this catalytic converter less..
3 – Call a tuning shop (research shops before you call) and get them to reprogram your cars computer to unlock the available power that the factory leaves unused so the motor will last 100,000 miles.. Be forewarned that any modifications done will shorten the life of your motor.. Another option to this is to purchase a “piggie back” computer system like a COBB access port which will allow you to upload “Off the Shelf maps” or have a shop custom tune it match your car which will get you more power..
4 – The best way to really change the acceleration of your automatic 2.0L is to change your gear ratio.. Changing the gear ratio in the differentials to 4.10 gears will make your car accelerate quicker but will lower you gas mileage on the highway because you will be at a higher RPM while cruising..
OK, I hope this helps better..
Keep researching and learning we all had to start somewhere..

02 WRX.. Tearing up the streets Yet again.. "Hells Yea"..
thanks guys, Im goning to try the the dp and uppipe, to see if that helps, im sort of concren about reprogram the cars computer, ill keep everyone adived on my progress, Im also going to post pics really soon...
Putting the DP one and not tuning for it in one way or the other is just about pointless. Yes Im guilty of it also, I have an 05 WRX 4 EAT and its ungodly slow. But thats comparing it to my 07 WRX w/a 20G on it. I have a full TBE on my 05 with no tune or EM and you wont get hardly a thing out of it other than some extra noise. Just putting that out there. Im not sure about the uppipe though. I have the stock up on the 05 still.
