so I have a 2004 wrx that I just purchased 2 months ago...completely stock and I want a BOV for the sound of course I did some reading and researched but so many choices and its hard so I want some opinions and tell me what you got and how you like it...
here are some that I was looking at and if you know of any better ones please post a link...
The silencer delete is basically removing the elbow in the intake that is mounted inside the passenger fender well. By removing the silencer you get more intake noise and you can hear your stock BOV better. Match that with either a short ram intake or a aftermarket panel filter and you can really here it. For instructions due a search through here or head over to scoobymods.com and take a look.
I picked up the Forge BOV (from MachV motorsports) and I have no complaints. It has a unique sound (closer to the TurboXS.. more of a pfff and not a whistle.)
I would do the silencer delete first. It's pretty easy and will probably take about 1/2 an hour on your first attempt of removing one. You will get more sound out of the stock bypass valve along with being able to hear the turbo spool a lot more, but i'm pretty sure its not going to satisfy your BOV-sound cravings.
I'm not doing anything this weekend, so I might try and get a sound clip if you'd like to hear it.
thanks. I will look into that silencer delete mod but I dont think it will give me the sound im looking for...what you guys think of that TurboXS(the first link)
HKS is my favorite and I went through three of them(Tubroxs,GFB, and HKS) and I love My HKS. I'm Never looking back plus you don't have to worry about it leaking ever.
