Help with Boost gauge install

Hey guys I got an AEM digital boost gauge for my 2014. Does anyone have a write up that could help me with the install? Mainly what should I remove and where to route the wires and where to tap the vacuum line?

I know it's for the spt but I believe it answers most of your questions. Pretty easy install IMO.

Thanks for the video seems like quite a few steps and SPT specific. I should have mentioned that I was using the SMY Dual Cluster. Can't I tap into the fuses and not have to remove the clock, radio, and dimmer cover area?

Yes, use the acc 12 volt fuse for power. You can use this to tap into the fuses, just buy a small pack of fuses of the same amperage. This Add-a-fuse is available at autozone:

You can ground the gauges using a bolt by the under dash fuse box. There is a grommet behind where the stereo is and under the top mount intercooler, it is extremely annoying to get to and feed wires through, I opted to go for the grommet to the left of the clutch, it goes into your fender and into the engine bay easily. You can use the boost line coming from the BPV, there should be a T fitting. I used Zip ties to secure the lines to the fitting, just in case.

Yea the spt is plug and play so you probably don't need to remove some of the things. The second link has step by step photos as well. I have the smy with the spt boost gauge myself, love it.

Thanks for the links that second one with the pics will be really helpful!

Those add a fuses seem really cool! Do you know if Autozone might have them? I was hoping to maybe do the install on Saturday. I have a friend that is actually going to be installing one his TT BMW and he said he would help me with mine. I just like to be prepared and know what I'm doing haha.

I like this idea of using the grommet to the left of the clutch! No removing the stereo and not having to remove the intercooler sounds like a bonus to me.

I have the same boost gauge. Used fuse tap behind coin tray. Ground can be put virtually anywhere. Run wires through grommet behind pedals and tap into vac line coming off bpv.

Thanks! Do you just tap the vac line pretty close to the BPV or does it not really matter how close or far away?

Here's how I tapped mine but yours may be different since its a 08+. I just realized that.

That's where I tapped in to mine Adair. Right by the bpv, except on mine it's in a different spot. Then you can run it right through the grommet on the firewall behind the intercooler. The worse part of the job is getting the stuff through the firewall. I used a coat hanger that I bent and taped the hose to it and pushed it through the firewall. There is insulation on the inside you need to go through and it comes out in a tight spot inside the car.

If I don't have the Add a fuse and want to get the job done this weekend is there a reccommended way to do it and then maybe add the add a fuse later?

Check some other local auto parts stores. I like the add a fuse because you don't have to splice into other wires, it makes uninstall easier and there are less things to go wrong, and it also adds a separate fuse for your gauge.

Thanks that sounds like the way to go! Hopefully someone in town has them! Or I will order and then just put off the install a little bit.
