also found a 2012 wrx with 8000 miles on it for 18 but its a total loss. ive seen the damage and its front end and theyve rebuilt it with little or no damage done to the motor at all. is it worth the risk of maybe something wrong with the tranny or suspension due to a collision?

Personally, if I had $18k to spend, I would look for something in the $13k-$15k price range and use the extra cash for replacing things that are worn (including fluids).

I apologize for not giving a direct answer to your questions.

$18k for an '06 or '08? Someone is trying to rip people off. I'd expect to pay that for a normal mileage, non-totaled '12.

Is 80k bad for a stock 08 5 door? Its all stock too.

08 have a different turbo in them giving them less hp for the money you are paying. Just food for thought. If you like that body style I'd look at 09s and up.

That's crazy talk. A 1 year old WRX can be had for $21-23k. Especially with the new redesign values will drop. For example, my car went from being worth $21k in early 2003 to $15k in late 2003 when the redesigned peanuts and STI came out. I don't expect the newer models to drop to that much (in my case the STI release had a huge effect), by a 6 year old 80k mile car for $6k off retail? That's ridiculous.

Trim level has a lot to do with value also. Heated leather seats and fog lights are nice options to have. I would just finance a new one if I was you I paid 28.5 for my 13 limited hatch last august. Didnt put any cash down just traded in my civic.

I would agree with xnathanx2. If you could finance a brand new WRX that would be your best bet. I was a few thousand under water from my previous Audi, and rolled that into the new car as well. 18k for and 06 STi is incredibly high in my opinion. Same goes for the 08 WRX. If you can swing getting a new car, that's my opinion.

This is what dealers are selling them for. These cars are high demand and hard to find comparatively.

To OP, try and get a 09+ so you get that extra bump in power.
