On the fence about exhaust systems, 2013 WRX Wagon

I'm kinda on the fence here. Lol. I have a 2013 WRX on order. I want a sound similar to that of having a turbo back q300, but I don't wanna spend all that money when I can get the invidia dual n1 cat back for a similar sound, if it's similar at all. On top of that, I don't want to spend $1300 give or take for a turbo back q300 that would be too loud for me.

But then I discovered the Ark Grip cat back exhaust. I love the way it looks, and how it's designed to reduce drone. Thoughts? Is there anyone that can compare these exhaust in terms of noise level, drone, and cold starts?

honestly your paying a little more for the DP, and the cat back is for sound and then the DP is for horse power.
so if you want just sound and no really extra power go for the N1 but if you want the added power I would personally go with the Q300

Ummm..excuse me sir, but you know the Ark is a $1700 CBE right? Lol...

Without a doubt that things gotta be nasty sounding!! It's extremely similar to the HKS I had on my 350z and I can attest drone is the last thing I ever heard from it. But damn...$1700?!

Well if I get the down pipe then I'll have to get a tune which will land me at about $1700, give or take. And I saw the Ark exhaust for $1400 on one site, can't think of the name though.

Just as reference, a DP and AP will put you around $1200 and that's for a name brand (Invidia type) DP too. Maybe if you got a Protune ontop of an AP purchase you'd be looking around that, but with only a DP a Protune isn't exactly needed.

And yeah I just checked Ark's site and they have it listed for like $1350 it's just been a while since I looked at em. That's RIDICULOUS for a CBE though man!

My 2 cents...if you want something that's affordable, sounds nice, has almost no drone and actually has a really nice fit/finish for the cost you might want to look into the Turbo xs exhaust. Iv'e got a turbo-back that's all turbo xs with a catted mid-pipe and the car sounds amazing.

It's not however the best choice for someone that wants a LOUD exhaust though...it's pretty low/mellow toned. It does get pretty loud when you hammer it though.

Hope this helps.

I may get the Ark exhaust. I'll have to do a little more research. I was hoping to hear from someone that could do a comparison to the 3 exhaust systems. This is my first Subaru. I've always been a fan of the famous rumble that these cars have. I want something that has a good rumble, but I don't want a lot of drone. I want to be able to hold a conversation in the car without having to yell.

I've got the quad and blue tipped Invidia Q300 turboback exhaust with catted downpipe. Sound is amazing.

You MAY find an owner of an Ark on NASIOC. I've seen review thread of them on there. PM someone that's posted a thread.

Subarus sound good with any exhaust. You will get louder with any aftermarket exhaust... I have straight pipe 3" catless and it is a little annoying if you are trying to talk on the phone at 70+mph (freeway) but other than that it's not really that bad... The catback/ muffler gives the tone... Downpipe won't make it that much louder but you get that sexy spooling noise... The only one I've heard in person on the newer wrx (2012) was invidia and it was pretty sexy but not that loud... I liked it a lot but it was just catback or axleback or something (not turboback)

Well, I'm aiming for louder. I want a good, very noticeable rumble, but without the drone.

I currently have the Q300 on my Civic. When I first got it, the drone was pretty bad, but the noise level outside was pretty mellow. After I got my Invidia header, it greatly reduced drone, while making the car louder. It's the perfect balance IMO. I want to find something like this.
