So I was working on replacing my headlights with the battery disconnected for more than 24 hours and messed with the MAF sensor. Does anyone know why this happens? Can I fix this by myself or should I take it to the dealer?
The lights you are seeing mean the car has been put into limp mode. What exactly do you mean by "messed" with the MAF sensor? Did you just unplug it? Clean it? Touch or bump the sensor itself?
You could try unplugging and re-plugging the MAF connector and see if that clears the problem.
If it doesn't, go to your local auto parts store and get the code pulled so we can get a better idea of what isn't happy.
^+1 please get the code, there could be 50 things causing it. Without the code all we can do is guess.
Secondly, what did you do to the MAF? Please tell me you didnt try an ebay "performance" chip.
Yeah, I think RM is right.. the car went to a limp mode since you unplugged your batteries for more than 24 hrs. If you just cleaned your MAF, then you don't have to worry about anything but, you've mentioned that you've messed with it, then that could be a different story.
I had the same issue before, CEL on and a blinking cruise control after cleaning my MAF sensor. The blinking cruise control is for safety purposes when you have a check engine light on, its disengages of using it. Mine, eventually went away after driving for a few miles. hopefully, it'll be the same case...goodluck!
It did went into a limp mode but nothing to worry about, I unplugged the battery for about 7-10 minutes and when I turned the car on again, the lights were gone.
Yeah, Subaru definitely gets your attention with the 3 lights of different colors rather than just one yellow check engine light. When I did my injector upgrade without the tune, I had to limp around for a few miles with that barraging my vision. Pure torture. Thankfully, my Accessport and an OTS map was nearby, haha.
