electrical one has a sending unit, and it sends the signal to your gauge via wire. mechanical one has a hose that taps into vac/boost line, after the TB if im not mistaken.

Electronic gauges are more accurate and quicker to respond.

well if youre using an electrical gauge, all you have to do is run a wire through the firewall. if you get a mechanical one, youre gonna have to run that small hose through the firewall. might not be such a chore, but you have to make sure you dont kink the hose. i have a mechanical boost gauge on my gl-10, and i havent had any problems with it. doesnt seem to have any problems with response time.

the sending unit would tap into the same line that a mechanical one would... one that is sensative to vacuum and boost.
