CAI question

Hello everybody, i bought my wrx used and new it had some slight mods on it, i later found out that CAI can be harmful to the engine. Is this true? this is the one i have in mine. Hopefully the picture is helpful. Thank you for any feedback.

I can't really tell by looking at it, but from here it just looks like they put a SPT one on it, which is a Subaru aftermarket company. You should be okay, but I'd run some datalogs to be sure. Watch your A/F ratios and MAF voltage.

I agree, its more than likely the SPT one. No real gains from running it, maybe a little more intake noise is all.

Don't use a CAI without a tune and if its raining hard just don't drive in puddles. I got lucky yesterday when I drove through a puddle that was deeper than I expected. Plus the traffic on the road did not allow me to pull over from the water. My engine started to spudder and I was about to curse profusely. But, my car kept running and I think I got lucky that I didn't suck up a lot of water. If I sucked up some....it wasn't enough to eff me over. I'm leaving the car home from now on if I can. I'm not risking it in the rain anymore.
