buying a 2009 WRX

hello, I am buying a 2009 WRX tomorrow! I have never owned an AWD vehicle before and am looking foward to confident driving in snowy conditions.

From what I have read so far, the 2009 has more power, but firmer suspension than the 2008 model. What I havent read is if the 08 suspension can be swapped for the 09 suspension? I would rather have comfortable driving than sporty.

Are there other differences? I test drove the 2008 model, but they offered the 2009 for the same price, and took the deal. I am hoping I am not disappointed.

Anyways, just wanted to say hello!

The 08 suspension is... soft. The 09 suspension is... average. I would not call either firm and I don't think you will dislike the 09 as too rough. If you do, you might consider a good all season grand touring tire for it rather than the summer rubber the 09 comes with. That will make it much more cushy.

If you prefer the 08's suspension so much though, get the 08. You can always add power.

+ 1 to Mosc advice. That would seem like the easier more logical thing to do.

BTW the 2009 wrx GT is the same as a 2008. Same power same suspension. Just add an exhaust and intake. The 2009 WRX does have a larger turbo to start with though.

If you get the 09 and are unhappy with the suspension there are a lot of people with 08 wrx's that will trade in a heartbeat. They may even pay you a little bit since yours is brand new.

Good suggestion ratfink but the GT is only available in an AUTO which may put him off...

Yeah, I bought a 2009 WRX Wagon. Not a GT. Had to have a manual.

I am still breaking it in. I baby my cars until about 1000 miles. After that, its fair game.

I put $14000 down, and am making payments on the rest. I hope I'll have it paid of by the end of '09, but ya never know with the way the economy is.

First mod is to tint the tailights. I work at a custom car/truck shop, and thats something I think looks subtle, and good.

I'll get pics soon.
