Brand name FMIC or Generic FMIC

What (if any) are the main differences between the big name fmic companies and the others? I am just wondering if there are any major performance or reliability issues amongst the "no-namers". I honestly do not like to sacrifice cost for reliability but could care less about a name if there is no difference. Thanks in advance if you can enlighten me on this matter. If there is a difference can you please back it up with data (intake temperatures etc, etc..).

thanks,

John

some of the biggest differences are going to be with how everything fits.

Usually a brand name will not have fitment issues, has aluminum piping instead of SS which will dissipate the heat better, better welds and has a better core that cools and flows more efficiently. That being said, i am using an SSAC fmic(similar to turbo-xs) and it works well on my set up. Had no fitment issues or problems and cools better than my sti top mount. I know it lacks some of the traits a brand name would have, but i got it for $300 shipped so i can't complain. I have seen some other knock-offs though that really are poor quality.

Following what midnite said, most knock offs are just that. They copy a name brand but they cut "corners" so to speak to save some money. Sometimes its a good gamble, sometimes its not.
