BOV problems
Okay, tonight I installed a Perrin Recirc BOV and once i got it hooked up and properly installed i turned my car on and drove it and was not getting any boost blow off sound...what would cause this and what do I need to change? Really needing some help because i have to drive it and i know that if the boost levels are messed up it can cause damage over time...please gimme some answers..

Well if it's a recirc you will not get a blow off sound the stock bov is the best one you can use unless your over 21ppunds of boost in my opinion. I had a turbo xs hybrid on my 06 Wrx and it was day and. Night when I went back to stock bypass valve. My opinion stick to the stock one.

so on my 2002 wrx just stay with the stock one? but how do you get the sound then?

Have to get a vent to atmosphere one, which messes with the ecu because the stock one recirculates the air back into the intake. Might be able to get away with a 50/50 one pretty sure Perrin makes a adjustable one If you really want the sound. If I was you I'd save my money and buy a downpipe. And a Cobb access port. You'll be much more happy rather then just having something that sounds cool but isn't doing anything for performance

This is the BOV i got, is there any way to get sound outta this?

90% sure that is the recirc one and it's not adjustable to VTA. Someone else chime in on this topic

what the hell im new here but i think u need to do this for the sound...

Recirculating or Vent to Atmosphere
This universal fitment has large 1.325" tube connections for easy installation. Simply disconnect the recirculating hose and let your blow off valve vent to atmosphere on cars using speed density type ECU's (Cars with no MAF)

u want it to vent to atmosphere.

Bryce'sWRX 01-05-2013 10:57 PM

so all i need to do is to take of the small hose from the front of the recirculating BOV to make it vent to atmosphere?

You need a plug for the recirc line if you really wanna do that I think. Some Wrx don't run to well with a vent to atmosphere. Just giving my .02

is the recirc line the smaller one towards the front of the car or the thicker one towards the bottom of the motor?

06_hawk_eye 01-05-2013 11:05 PM

No offense but if your asking that you shouldn't be messing with your Subaru motor. It's the thicker one almost under your intercooler

I'm only 16 dad and me work on my car. He's pretty savy with boxers, im still learning. I just want the sound. My cars got 93k on it so im not gonna do anything to ridiculous to it performance wise but i would like the BOV sound

thekamikaze kid 01-05-2013 11:12 PM

i believe bov is a bad word in this forum. everone seams to think the stock bov makes the car run better. i dont know tho cause i bought one with a hks bov and so far im good. dont know the long term effects so far.

If you want the sound get a 50/50 hybrid one at least then some air is going back. It won't be super loud bov but you'll hear it I had it on my 06. Turbo xs makes a hybrid so does a couple other companys
