Hi guys, today i was changin my air filter and noticed one of my hair hose from the turbo (the one perpendicular to de T) was almost cut in half, after some research i found out that without that you car will run 17 psi which is too much and i felt the car runing richer and faster .....
well now i gotta go and get a new hose, whats up if i get a manual boost controller and intall it, can i set it up instead of 13psi(normal) to a lower boost like 0.8? will this increase my MPG? yes i kno the car will be slower but.... i do long trips once in a while? im a little new with MBC. sorry.
You felt the car running richer and faster? Well to answer your question, you cant just buy an MBC, install it and call it good. There is more to making the car run than just boost. Running an MBC without tuning isnt taking any of that into account. And just because you lower the boost doesnt equal better gas mileage. I progressively have gotten better gas mileage with my car as I have added power.

Its not a cake easy PnP mod for one. To add a MBC and have it run correctly. Secondly you lose safety features that the ECU has, because your stealing the control away from the ECU. If you want to learn a lot more. Read this.
You have options for easy power and mileage even though a boost controller is out. Engine management and tuning are your best friends. Look into accessport, you can load on a map for power that will make it feel like a new car, then change it before you leave for a long trip to a fuel economy map to supposedly get 30+ mpg. It's a handheld unit and is totally idiot proof. If you can use a cell phone, you can use one of these.

i know what you are talkin about but in order for me to change to diff maps i need to have the upgrades that those maps are asking for. or are there maps for stock? i dont know if you get me?
OH WOW..... i didnt know... may be now i know what ill ask my gf for christmas haha they are like 600$ but they seem to be worth it because i have in mind to do some upgrades. down pipe,up pipe, intake as first..
It would be very smart to start out your mod list with a COBB or some sort of EM, instead of putting the mods on then getting some sort of EM after putting them on,
That is the wisest thing said right their above. Even a stage 1 map is an improvement over stock. Then that lays the way for future mods. Best bet is to find a tuner that is local, and educated on subarus, see what they are comfortable working with and then go from there.

Exactly. You are not going to bolt on ANY part that will give you the kind of gains EM will on a stage 1. You can bolt parts on later that will give you bigger gains in conjunction with the Cobb AP, but it's a clear first choice.

Just search around for used ones also. If doing this just make sure that the AP is unmarried from the previous car. You can look on this site, NASIOC.com, craigslist or ebay for used ones.
