I can't tell much of a difference with the short ram (except for the sound). I have a TurboXS turbo back system and a MBC, and I'm getting ready to install an up-pipe and have my ECU reflashed.

save your money, get an upipe, if you really want the noise
go with the Greddy intake, i think it's 129. with that you can hear the stock BOV. Like the person above said, the intake isnt needed for power
until you get to stage 4. so atleast you have a cool looking part under the hood, and a cool sucking noise like a jet engine, and the pssst
power from the upipe, for about 330 bucks
i think we killed 3 birds lOL
how much is the HKS Bov?

intake plus upipe for 330, BOV 250, no performance gain

The uppipe is the pipe that goes from the exhaust manifold to the turbo. There is a catalytic converter in it. The aftermarket ones don't have a cat in them.

I don't think they affect the sound much by themselves. At least, all the ones I have seen don't have any effect on the sound.

by putting a aftermarket uppipe in, does that cause any problems with emissions/CAT light? and i've seen 1 uppipe that is $50 less than all others on the market, they say this is because its not chromed, their reasoning is no one sees it so why spend the money to make it look nice. its called the TURBO XS cat-less uppipe and can be seen at http://home.att.net/~teaguesauto/exhaustw.htm

You can also get it at www.worldoneperformance.com. Some companies (like Perrin) guarantee that you will not get any check engine lights (CEL's). I'd e-mail TurboXS to see what they say about it. Their site is www.turboxs.com. As for emissions, you will still have 2 cats in the car, so you should not have any problems with emissions.

My local shop will do perrin uppipes. I'm scared to do the pipe for fear of testing down there....How many times have u guys answered this question: What will an upipe do for my car...

My Perrin UP Pipe came with a "resistor" that plugged into the stock plug for the O2 sensor to eliminate it and signal the ECU with the proper readings.. Did you get the resistor?? I can put an meet on it and tell you how many Ohms it is so you can just get one at Radio Shack or some such place and then clear your ECU and see if comes back on..

You should be fine. I'm in Ontario and for shits and giggles i had it emissions tested at my local shop and it passed..... I run up pipe and full turbo back and AP stage 2. That was with the probe in my exhaust.
