Would really like to put my 2011 hatchback wrx on coilovers, but being in college I'm on a budget. What are the best coilovers for the cheapest price? Thinking like $800 is a maximum
Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra bucks. Get a nice quality budget coilover like the FEAL 441 or Fortune Auto 500. Avoid BC and ST both are trash
I completely respect your right to do whatever you want with you car/money and I hope I don't come off as a dick but I've never understood why anyone would want to put a WRX on coilovers.
I get it if you're building a dedicated autocross machine or need adjustable coils for some other utilitarian reason but if I were trying to improve the suspension I would look at other, much cheaper, options (sway bars, etc.) that don't sacrifice drive-ability of the car.
People that get their cars "slammed" for purely aesthetic reasons puzzle me. Yeah, it looks cool, but but in my opinion our cars are designed for much greater things than scraping around town to take instagram pictures.
Again, you do you, I'm not trying to tell you what to do with your car I just don't understand how people are willing to put the $1200+ up for coilovers to replace an already pretty decent factory suspension. You could get sway bars and some seriously sticky tires for that kind of money and not have trouble with curbs/speedbumps/earthworms, etc.
What they said, Cheap coilovers lower your ride quality and lower the overall safety of your vehicle. Unless you tow it to and from car shows and you just want something pretty then please dont waste your money on cheap coils.
If you on a budget springs and struts are a pretty good start. Adjustable struts are an even better start.
Whats your intended use case?
