Question 4-Door or 5-Door

Need some insight on why i should go one direction or the other. The obvious extra room in the 5-Door is nice but does it lack any performance that the 4-Door would otherwise have due to the increase body size of the 5-Door? Any other information on important differences that may help make my decided to purchase one way or the other is greatly appreciated.

Well, I think unlike the 07 and earlier styles, the 08 is natively a hatch. The Sedan is more like a hatch with a trunk thrown on more than the wagon is like a sedan with a hatch thrown on. Most people have strong astetic preferences for one or the other. You either crave the room of the hatch or demand the look of the sedan. If you're really torn in the middle, I'd just spend some time in the showroom.

^^ and test drive both as well... I prefer the 5 door, but i have always liked the wagons over the sedan

The sedan is heavier than the 5 door because its longer , I bought the 5 door so I can pack alot of luggage and snowboard bags in it and still have 4 people in the car .

Again, this is true for 08 (and likely 09) but not for earlier years. The "native" form of the 07 and older was a sedan and the "native" form of the 08+ is a hatch and the "native" form is going to be lighter.

So if the native form is going to be lighter, then the 08+ wagon will be lighter than the sedan even though it is longer/larger?

the "smaller" and lighter form of the 07 and earlier is the sedan
the "smaller" and lighter form of the 08 and up is the hatch

The 08 STi is a hatch

Look at it another way, the wagon is the biggest, then the sedan, then the hatch. The 07 and earlier have a wagon and no hatch, the 08 and up have a hatch and no wagon

The new sedans just don't look as sporty as they have in the past IMO. Kind of early model ford taurus esque. Not for me. Like I said before, I didn't like the hatch at first, but the new STi has grown on me.

I've looked at this thread and checked the poll results a bunch of times already, but I just can't vote. Gotta say, I'm still not a fan of either style

When I saw the first 08 sedan on the road I seriously thought it was a Kia until I say the Subaru logo on the rump. Bad design

yo man I just bought a 5 door 08. I love it. I bought it cause it looks better (my opinion), and I need the room for board/ski stuff and ya it's sweet.

if i had to pick the hatch or the sedan, id have the hatch. Looks more aggressive then the sedan version of the 08's. When it comes down to it, its still a wrx/sti.
