2002 WRX exhaust opinion

Hey everyone, I've gotten serious into some full Turbo back exhaust's for my 02' WRX. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I've considered Cobb TBE and Tanabe Concept G blue. I kind of like the deep throaty sound of the COBB but the Tanabe lets you hear the turbo spool GREAT! Anyone help me out here? maybe throw me some suggestions?

Thanks
Bryce M.:D

Not a bad combo. Probably one of the best.

What do you want to know about it?

Bryce'sWRX 01-22-2013 12:19 PM

Well I need to know which is a better system overall. I like both but it depends on the quality and the price is only 10$ different.

Nothing beats COBB IMHO. I forgot to include that on my previous post. Sorry about that.

Have you considered used?

I have considered getting a used down pipe, but i'd rather go wioth new from the down pipe back. Plus here in Iowa there are so little subaru's the nearest used down pipe I coulkd find was in minnesota. Plus if you buy from Cobb directly there is free shipping. Idk what do you think?

I'm partial to COBB soooooo.

As long as there isn't anything wrong with the used, I don't see why not. Up to you.

It's just that here in Iowa there are barely ANY subarus that the nearest full system i can find is like 200 miles away..so ill try and find a used one. Would i need a tune?

detrails01 01-22-2013 04:26 PM

With a turbo back, you would need a tune.

Bryce'sWRX 01-22-2013 05:09 PM

What exactly do you have to do to tune it? Like what kind of place?

pjkolosha 01-22-2013 06:40 PM

My brother had an 02 wrx wagon with a borla CBE and he also had a DP but honestly im not sure ### kind. but that subie sounded mean...it was a low rumble. one of the better exhaust sounds ive heard on a rex. it turned heads on streets ### people wanted to know what that sound was haha just in case your other opinions become dead ends

Would you happen to know how you would tune it afterwards? Like how does the tune take place?

pzr2874 01-23-2013 05:36 AM

Either get a COBB AP or take it to a tuner that OpenSource tunes.

Bryce'sWRX 01-23-2013 08:49 AM

Which would be cheaper?

pzr2874 01-23-2013 09:01 AM

Cheaper = OS Normally from a tuner. But in order to to flash/reflash you need a computer and cable. Add-in know how and software...etc.... you can see where this is headed.

Better = an AP (because you can do reflashes yourself) and "Pro-tuners" are plenty.

Search this, it's been beaten to death.

Bryce'sWRX 01-23-2013 09:04 AM

So you would recommend just buying an AP?
