No joke, don't end up like us lol... Why I didn't buy the 08 STi for about the same price as my 09 WRX was new I'll never know.

haha I can't really complain...I'm to the point where it doesn't matter if I've got a WRX or STi...it just would have been cheaper if I had started with one instead

STI envy will get you if you can afford it. I owned a WRX and paid it off in a year...just to trade it in and pay off the STI in 8 more months. But, it all depends on what your goals are. If even the whim of modest/moderate mods will be done...the STI will be the better bet. WRXs are very nice cars....don't get me wrong. But, the STI is just a better well rounded car.

For those who traded their WRXs in for used STIs, is it being driven as a DD? Because isn't the WRX more fuel efficient, comfortable, and just better in every way as a DD? I mean I could understand an STi as a second car or something. But trading in a new WRX for a used STI?.... I don't get it

The STI is more mod friendly some would say. From having the slightly better engine, to the superior stronger transmission.

Garage
If you can't find an 08 STi for <29k, you haven't looked very hard. They got sold at $7k below sticker in the end of 08 because they were far less popular than expected (the new body style was not a sales increase like they expected).

Same here. How many people here have said it so I'm just another addition to the group, but I owned 2 different WRX's (one '02 used, and one '08 new) and I made the switch to a used '08, even though my original plan was to get the '11 STi sedan. I would NEVER go back, even though I did get my STi with 6700 miles on it for 24K. . . It's a no brainer if you can afford it.
