Slappin on BBS

So I finally found some 5x100 BBS. I put them on today and they look sooo goooood. They came with some fairly new falken tires too.I have just a few q's.

1. My first time on the highway with the new setup I noticed a bit of a rubber smell at first, but it went away. Could this just be because the tires hadn't been driven on in awhile?

2. I went from 205s on stock 05 wheels, to 225s on 17" BBS, and the new tires are a little bit less profile than my 205s. Will I be running into any problemos or will they be fine to just slap on and go?

Thank you muchhhh

I don't know why you would smell rubber. Seems like that's something either coming from your engine bay or a vehicle in front of you.

Your speedometer/odometer may be off slightly because of it. Other than that, you're fine.

Ya it hasn't happened since, so maybe I'm crazy. Will it be far enough off that I should get it fixed?

Also, my tires seem to be making an odd noises when driving. It seems like its coming from the left side. I evened out my tires pressure today on all wheels and measured my tread depth on all wheels to make sure they were the same/close. All seems well there. But it seems to be making a noise, it sounds like a tire was low on air (but it isn't). It is a wop wop wop wop wop noise when driving, mostly noticeable around 35-40 mph. I know that is fairly broad but any ideas?

Geez, that could be anything.... Were the rims and tires balanced ? And can you feel anything?

And it didn't do it when you had your older stuff on there?

No, it shouldn't be noticable.

205/55R16: 24.88"
225/45R17: 24.97"
Difference 0.09", which is very friggin small. Keep in mind tires wear so a new tire to an old tire will have a difference of at least 12/32 (6/32 top and bottom) which is 0.375" or >4x the difference you're talking about.

Ya I had them balanced when we put them on, and my stock setup didn't do it. It just feels/sounds like it is riding a little rough. I do understand that can happen with slightly thinner tires, but one just seems to be making a noise. I could just be overthinking this ha.

And mosc, thanks for the info/math lesson!
