Help with tire/wheel selection 2013 WRX

Hey all...I just got a 2013 WRX Limited sedan and was looking to upgrade my wheels. I'm looking at two different ones the Ray Gramlights 57xtreme and the Enkie Raijin.

Rays Size 18x9.5 +40 with a 255/35/18 tire (this tire also comes in a 18x8.5 size)

Raijin 18x8.5 ??offset with a 245/40 tire

What size rim is best effective in retaining driveability and handling? Later on I plan on doing big brakes to the car.

Any concerns comments on the selections?

Raijin 18x8.5 +45s
or
18x8.5 +45 Gramlight 57Xtremes

245/35/18 is the correct size, but it limits tire selection. 245/40 will fit but your speedometer and odometer will be off and it makes hurts your hearing by making it taller.

No street driven Subaru on Earth warrants 9.5" wide wheels.

Thanks for the quick reply. So basically I'll stay at the 18 x 8.5 with a 45 offset. I know lots of people run some crazy beefy tires, but I'm confused why. Is that sidewall going to pick up every pothole in the street? I think OEM im a 235/45/17

The Enkei Raijin is def a good choice! I'm liking both your choices though honestly.

Like mentioned sticking with an 8.5" wheel is ideal with width, so if both are made with that and have a et45 you literally can't get any better. That'll get your wheels a little closer the the fenders edge without getting ridiculous and effecting performance. I'm in turmoil over wheels myself still due to selection on the WRX. It's slim pickin's...

But as far as drivability, running an 18" wheel is def going to effect things although nothing drastic IMO if you're running a 40 series sidewall. If running an 18" and a 35 series I feel for ya lol! I do agree though that a 17" wheel is slightly small on the 3G's. If I were buying wheels they def wouldn't be 17's either!

You got some good wheel choices and prime offsets/widths with both of them. Please do post pics

The difference from bumps in the road that you going to notice are going to be more from running 18s rather than 17s more so than 245/40/18 vs 245/35/18.
