Difference between 02 and 05 suspensions NEED A ? ANSWERED PLEASE!

Ok let me give ya that back story. I got a stock 05 wrx and a friend of mine has a 02 wrx (both are sedans). He has the koni adjustable strut inserts and eibach lowering springs. Its a nice setup and he told me that he would do a trade w/ some cash for my stock struts and springs. Can this be done? If I just take the entire strut/spring/mount assembly (without taking it apart) and put it on my car, can I take my stock 05 assembly and put it on his 02 w/o having to modify anything?

I did as much research as I could but couldn't find an answer. I read about the spacers you can buy to use 02-03 struts w/ an 05, but I don't think I should need them if I'm trading the entire assembly, including the housing and strut tops. Is this true? I wouldn't mind having to buy some spacers to make the 02 stuff fit on my car, but then clearly my OEM stuff wouldn't fit right on the 02. If its not going to be a simple swap of shock towers... I'm afraid it will be to much work, since my friend is only here for the holidays and we would need to do this in the next day or two before he leaves.

Thanks in advance, any advice is appreciated.

The only thing different is the rear strut tops, just swap them, the 02's wont work with the 05's and vise versa. The fronts should be the same.
