both.

the 3" OD pipe i got off ebay went on the CAI where i cut off the MAF section like in the pics. then at the dyno we cut off the little 2"x2" MAF housing and welded that onto some left over 3" pipe.

one more question to you synolimit. I am going to do this and my current intake/maf housing is like your txs (aluminum and 66mm). I am maxing out my volts though and needed to get a bigger housing on my intake. since I plan to run my car without an intake once I do a draw through I assume I would still need to get a bigger maf housing when it's on my intercooler piping. I'd still be maxing out my volts whether it be a draw through or blow through system right?

^Yep, you'll max out that pipe no matter where it's located, so you need to upsize.

Most draw through setups don't need a 73mm intake till like 400hp while BT will need a 73mm at like 300hp. Check out KStect in his BT page, he lists HP limits.

I couldn't find much on that kstect and bt page. but I have a whole rotated set up and wanted to go with a blow through maf before I retune. need a retune since I'm maxing my volts last time I tuned. I was thinking rather than using the bigger maf housing as a draw through go blow through. it's approximately 76mm or in other words 3 inches. I'm only wanting to push upper 200awhp since my tranny and engine probably couldn't handle more in the 04 wrx.

Just make sure your tuner can tune BT. A lot of tuners hate it and dont know how. You really gotta know what you're doing.

alright thanks for all the input. I was asking my tuner about it and he was saying I should just stick with a draw through set up, although I would prefer the blow throw set up but I'll follow my tuners advice.

Little late on this reply but you can buy a 3" aluminum housing from spectre . Or autozone. They have mandrel bent tube as well so you can sell you cai instead of cuting it up. Buy the maf housing for 30 ish and a new pipe with a 90 deg bend on it for 40 ish. Say you have a 250 $ cai, sell it spend a 100 of the money and to get new parts . You come out with 100 in your pocket . The 3" part number is 9405. It comes with inside adaptors incase your tuned for smaller housing size.
