Turbo inlet pipe

I am contemplating buying a perrin turbo inlet pipe for my 09 wrx but am afraid of a CEL. perrin says no CEL will come on and tune not necessary. Anybody done this mod? If so i hear its good just want to buy another part without tuning yet

You will be fine without a tune.... You eventually get one, right?

Pointless if not IMHO

Oh BTW.... Get a set of phenolic spacers if you are going to take the IM off... might as well if yur in there....

Nevermind, you don't even need to take the IM off... nice

No tune needed and there is no associated CEL. I wouldn't worry at this point. The reason most people get this part is because their stock inlet broke, either due to age to mishandling during removal (specifically when doing turbo upgrades). It's more an aesthetic mod, and for higher mileage cars a reliability one, than a performance part.

Those mongolians trying get me. They (perrin) said without tune, 250 rpms faster bla bla bla. Thought it could be nice performance mod but mayb its not lol. Yes tune soon when i get DP installed and test pipe. But was tryna just wait until the run

Hopefully its easier to get them out a 09 than a 02. Man mine was a PITA to get out. I ended up just breaking the inlet in pieces to get it out. Perrin inlet went in easy though.
Good luck man. !Thumbs Up

Ill let u know how install goes. Was talkin to rallysport all day today they basically said same thing goodluck getting it off. But they also told me that for my shift bushings and short shifter which took approx 15 min total not including jacking car up of course

The inlet is a different beast.

If you take your time it's only 1 out of 5 beers.... If you have a "high blood pressure issue" it'll take longer hahahaha.

Hmmm....scratch that from my list then....ha ha. I kid.

pzr2874 03-21-2012 08:25 AM

I replaced the IM with a PnPnC'd one and phenolics with an inlet and it took 4EVAR.

The inlet I had was trash (BPM) had to make a concoction to make the PCV work correctly... Irritating to say the least.

mazzanic 03-21-2012 10:23 AM

So i took off intake (filter needed a cleaning) and attempted to see exactly what needs to come out. Holy shit that sucker is in there lol. Def a PITA. Im rethinking this mod lol. But again eventually itll need done so may as well get it outta the way with

brfatal 03-21-2012 11:17 AM

Most people cut their stock inlet off.

pzr2874 03-21-2012 11:37 AM

^This

If it were an APS or similar, I'd say wait till you get the other goodies together....

Silicon will tuck in (95%) of the time.

mazzanic 03-21-2012 01:26 PM

Thats what im thinking. While i install DP , up pipe and test pipe ill just rip it out then. Ill cant wait to get tuned. Just need a good tuner been looking forever just cant trust anyone yet. Been looking for about 8 months now and no real legit ones. Thinking about learning to tune my own car so if it blows i only can blame myself lol. But id prefer a professional

synolimit 03-21-2012 10:00 PM

^^^ thats where i was for a while! my old tuners last tune and non responding and a bunch of other things i decided to break ties. a friend started helping out and got like 95% of the tune done. then the last week or so ive started doing stuff and learning more etc. and its good times.

jarzar06 03-22-2012 04:31 AM

I put one on my 11 with a tq. performance stg. 2 tune and it thru no codes, everything seems to be in check. I've run data logs, keep in eye on boost and AFR's and nothing is out of the norm so far
